The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The garden area was pretty and well maintained. The locked gates added to a feel of security and seclusion.
Very little to complain of - may be breakfast was a little basic.
Overpriced in the holiday season
The patio where breakfast can be eaten is lovely. The grounds are beautiful and a peaceful place to relax.
The location was very good with lots of local bars and restaurants. Breakfast was satisfactory. Reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable.
The walls between the bedrooms were thin and you could hear things that you'd rather not!
This was our second time at the hotel and it was still a lovely peaceful haven. The Trastevere is a fascinating area with cobbled alleys and the restaurants are good and far cheaper than in the touristy areas. Rome is huge and some might feel it is too far from the centre but once you get used to the buses its fine or you can splash out and get a taxi.
We enjoyed Traverstre, the area where the Hotel Santa Maria was located. Everything is in walking distance: the Vatican, the coloseum, etc. but it was most relaxing to return to the hotel after a long day because the atmosphere is so relaxing. All of the stenciling on the outside and inside the rooms adds a nice touch.
It was quite warm in the room (October 10-13), but the staff had turned off the air conditioning" for the season" nothing could be done to imprive it. Perhaps providing a fan would have helped.
Location away form the hussle and bussle of Rome but within walking distance to all attractions and transport. The setting was a very peaceful oasis and the wifi in rooms for your personal computer was excellent. We had Room 7 which only had a little window but was situated away from reception and main courtyard, therefore very quiet.
Just be aware that the walls are thin .
location ,location,location and breakfast
rooms are not soundproof you can here everthing from the rooms next door .
Absolutely charming, comfortable, in a fascinating area of Rome.
We liked the atmosphere and it was quiet. The courtyard was charming. The breakfasts were excellent and it was very convenient to be able to eat before we set out to tour the city.
We didn't like our beds. You definitely need to invest in new mattresses! We also didn't like the recommendation of your bartender of a local restaurant that had poor service, so-so food and they served people who came in later than we did before we got our meals. In the future, please don't recommend Vizi Capitali -- on a scale of 1-5 it is a 2.
Antonio was perfect.
The Internet connection took a little while to work, but then everything was great.
Perfect location in the heart of Trastevere and yet a cloister-like quiet ambience. Very exceptional hotel with no corridors, exterior door from every room to the courtyard with orange trees. The bicycles were a big plus for us.
The hotel is really lovely, with courtyards and orange trees all over. The location is great, in Trastevere, close to bars and restaurants. The rooms are big and comfortable, there is free WI-FI in the rooms though a bit slow.
Rooms are not really sound-proof. Try to ask for a room on first floor, not on courtyard, otherwise you'll hear everything that is going on outside, including people checking-out early morning...
the staff was so helpful, and the location can not be beat !
I loved the garden, it was the nicest place! The daily 5:30 snack time was sucha great treat as well.....very delicious!
